Former Student, Famed Recording Artist GloRilla, Returns to MLK College Prep; Donates $25,000

It was a homecoming in many ways at Martin Luther King College Prep, Thursday. As students celebrated the school’s football homecoming, they were surprised as former MLK College Prep student and recording artist Gloria Woods aka GloRilla returned for a special performance and to donate $25,000 to the school, which she credits for “teaching her discipline.”

For GloRilla, the event also served as her moment to return home.

“I used to be right there where y’all are,” she said to the students before leaving them with words of encouragement.

“Do your work. Listen to your teachers and reach for the stars. You can do anything.”
